Both lengths are used, but the additional day can spread effort and altitude gain more gradually. The right choice depends on available time, prior trekking experience and how conservatively you want to approach acclimatization.

Typical camp progression

Itineraries commonly move through forest and Shira zones before continuing toward Barranco, Karanga and Barafu. Exact camps and daily distances depend on the selected itinerary and park procedures. Summit night
